March 2026

Our family really enjoyed the Toby Mac concert here in Idaho Falls. Our seats were kiddy corner behind the stage (cheap seats), but we LOVED the experience.
These are two of the backup singers and dancers - phenomenal talent!

After the show with all of us. So much fun!
Temple time again
Another fun BYUI 89th ward FHE at our home (this group was energetic and fun!)

Girls' night - doing facials together!
Melanie helping Tina Barnum get to the temple and watching Teagan and Tess for her.
Love these temple trips!!
Verity getting kicked by baby Chatelain. She loved feeling that.
Lydia from 89th ward
Another 89th ward FHE at our home

And Averly! (she came to visit)
Fun visit from Kerry and Genevieve Whitney!

Spring Break!! First stop is the WJ park to have pizza with Gma and Gpa Dutson
Then we got to go to the Lindon temple open house with Gma and Gpa Hatch
Then we went to a BYU Women's NIT tournament game (so fun!)
Alex living it up with Cougar Tails for everyone!
This was hilarious! Cosmo came to visit and was asking Averly to give him a kiss on his cheek. She was SO embarrassed and wouldn't do it.
She finally kissed her hand and put it on Cosmo's cheek. Good enough, we suppose ;)
Lion King posing for the jumbo-tron!

Thanks to Averly for dropping us off at the Provo Airport for our trip to San Diego!
On the plane ready to fly to Cali!
We first stopped at Sally's bagels and at them (delicious) while we walked around the beautiful (and pink) Huntington Beach California temple

Then we made our way south and stopped at this awesome strawberry farm with massive strawberries!

This is an unbelievable flower garden with 80 million flowers!
We made it to San Diego and spent our first California day on Coronado Island.
Massive Hotel Coronado (the inspiration for the Emerald City in the Wizard of Oz)

Picture of the bay between San Diego and Coronado Island
So fun - we got to ride E-bikes all around Coronado Island
Dude catching some fish off the dock

Enjoying delicious ice cream from MooTime creamery on Coronado.
Amazing flowers on Coronado
Hanging out at the beach on Coronado Island

Coronado Island is home to an Air Force base, so we can aircraft flying over us all day long

Day 2 started at La Jolla where we got to go kayaking in the ocean!

It was beautiful and so much fun!

Awesome caves we got to Kayak past

Seals!

We actually got to Kayak inside one of the caves, flip a quick U-turn, and then come out. So fun!

100 % true, always!
Sand dollar we found on the La Jolla beach

Looking down on a whole bunch of beached seals!

So pretty!
Then we got to go enjoy Old Town San Diego - an old Mexican town.

Right after this picture we enjoyed eating an amazing Churro from Old Town.
Melanie found this restaurant that let us buy Flour tortillas and cinnamon chips from the little window behind us
The entrance to the Mormon Battalion (right outside Old Town)
Hayden was selected to suit up with the Mormon Battalion uniform - good sport!

Panning for gold after a super fun time in the Mormon Battalion.
At the top of the Mormon Battalion tower

Back to Old Town to listen to a Mariachi band!

We capped that night off by going to An's Dry Cleaning - a Gelato shop! The line was so long we ended up at the back of the line in an alley. We ended up just buying a couple of pints and enjoying the Gelato back in our hotel.

Day 3 started at Cabrillo National Park in the tide pools, looking for ocean life...
...like a massive crab
and oysters
Tide was out, so we got to really enjoy the tide pools

More aircraft (helicopters) coming to Coronado Island
Beautiful view of Coronado Island from the top of Cabrillo National Park

Near the light house at the top of Cabrillo
Then we traveled to Belmont park. A super fun place right off Mission Beach.
We rode the roller coaster (super jerky)

And had a blast playing miniature golf at Belmont Park

Mission Beach - beautiful and super crowded that day.
A fun visit to the Baked Bear. Ice cream shop that makes ice cream sandwiches with cookies and brownies
USS Recruit at Liberty Station (only ever used for training)
Sunset cliffs for a remarkable view of the sunset...from cliffs. So cool! (As we enjoyed a dinner of Chick-fil-A).

All those little things sticking out of the water below the cliffs we were on are surfers!

Fun little decoration at the top of the cliffs. A lady and guy were getting married there when we arrived.

Fun in the pool at our hotel on our last night in San Diego.

Day 4 started at the boat docks in San Diego - just got to look at the massive ships docked there

Massive statue of the iconic World War II ending kiss

Balboa State Park

Inside that beautiful trellis building with gorgeous plants and flowers

This is how we appreciate the art in the Balboa Park art museum
Massive cathedral tower
On our way out of Balboa Park
Melanie was awesome and found a Jolibee restaurant near San Diego. This was one of Alex's favorite restaurants in the Philippines. Not so favorite in California! (expensive and not great food)

But so fun to bring back the Philippines memories!
Taking the Ferry boat from San Diego to Coronado Island

View of San Diego

Final awesome event of Day 4 = the San Diego Padres game (vs. Detroit). Padres lost, but the experiene was awesome! Massive stadium, TONS of people, and free scarfs at the door!

Yep! Really was that beautiful!

That night, we drove 1 1/2 hours back to Anaheim, stayed in a hotel...
Then hopped on a plane back to Provo the next morning
