Hayden and dad feeling the love
Saying final good-byes to Averly (headed to Provo/BYU)

Verity and mom made homemade Oreo-cake cookies for Evan's birthday
Fall = perfect time for Hayden and his buddies to play some backyard football (Evan Bateman's birthday wish). Singing him happy birthday and Verity giving him the Oreo cookies she helped make.
Alex taking Daniel Jemmett to the Chukar's baseball game.
Dad got Verity out of school to enjoy lunch together in his office.
Verity playing tennis in Sugar City.
Such awesome form!
Verity and Piper after her first tennis match. They won!
Had to get a little soft-serve to celebrate Verity's first official tennis match.
Celebrating Given's birthday (a little early): Stop 1: Baptisms at the temple
Stop 2: Dixie's diner for dinner
Stop 3: Home for birthday cake (peach crisp!)
Activity #4: Watching the BYU vs. Stanford BYU football game while mom gave gifts and played "get to know Given" games with us. Fantastic night!
Official beanwich sandwiches (beans from our garden)
Hayden on the Student Council float for the Homecoming parade
Early that week, we got word that Jeremy had gone from being in the hospital (for about a month straight) to now being in a hospice care center in Denver. On this Friday, we got word that Jeremy's condition was declining (could no longer eat or drink), so Alex got a flight to go be with Jeremy and spell off Jayson (who had been there 2 weeks). This is mom and Verity seeing Alex off at the IF airport.

And then enjoying a little Super Chix to finish the night
Hayden after the Homecoming football game. I think his friends attacked him.
Alex arriving in Jeremy's hospice care room on Saturday, September 13, 2025. Jeremy was a little responsive when Alex first got there. Recognized Alex was there and said, "I love you...very much" to Jayson as Jayson finally had to leave.
Hayden all ready to go to Homecoming with Saige Forsgren. Melanie and Verity made the gorgeous flower boquet.
Absolutely handsome dude in a slick new suit
On Saturday, September 13, Allie and Stephen drove all the way from Lincoln Nebraska to Denver to be with Jeremy. Here's all of us with Connie's mom, too (Cyndi) and Sarah.
Verity enjoying some amazing home-cooked food. Always delicious.
Sunday, September 14, 2025 - Tender picture of Connie with Jeremy. Alex stayed over night Saturday. Jeremy had talked quite a bit in his sleep, but was unresponsive for most of Sunday.
Beautiful picture with the whole family. Connie wrapped up Jeremy nice and warm with the blanket over his head. He always loved that.
Andre and Mom Dutson drove all the way from Utah to Denver on Sunday the 14th as well. Nice time decompressing together with the family in the hospice kitchen.
Alex with Allie/Steven's baby, Melinda. She is SO cute!
A great miracle happened on Sunday, September 14th, A crew of Jeremy's colleagues from work had traveled all day to be with Jeremy. They hadn't planned on coming until Monday, but Connie told them they should probably come when they got there...that was 9:45 pm Sunday night.
Although Jeremy had been unresponsive all day, we were shocked when we were able to wake him up when this group of 8 work friends showed up. Jeremy weakly said to us, "Sit up. Sit up. Sit up." This picture is Jeremy's director, Kade Johnson, presenting to Jeremy his retirement letter of gratitude from the First Presidency for almost 3 decades of of work in S&I.
Jeremy opened his eyes often and got to visit, one one one, with each one of them.
Jeremy even had a smile as he talked to this lady, Wendy, who had flown in from Arizona.
It was absolutely a miracle what Jeremy was able to do that night. We are so grateful he was able to be alert and aware, and we know he appreciated so much being honored by his dear friends for his incredible work in S&I. Everyone finally left just before midnight. Connie asked Alex to stay the night again with Jeremy. It took Alex some time to get Jeremy to relax after everyone left. Once he finally laid back, he fell asleep, and that's the last time Jeremy had been alert or responsive in any way.
Melanie, Hayden, and Verity went to our BYUI 89th ward on Sunday, then went to dinner at Given and Grace's house.
Jeremy was unresponsive from late Sunday night until he passed away Monday, September 15, 2025, with Connie, Sarah, Alex, Andre, and Mom Dutson in his room. The rest of the day was exhausting. Here's Andre taking a little nap in the guest kids room as we waited for the mortuary to come get Jeremy's body.
Our next-door neighbors, the Saunders, provided pizza for our family as they heard of Jeremy's passing that day. Kind firends.
Melanie and the kids trying a little "Happy Teriyaki" - new restaurant owned by our friends, the Gudmundson's.
Finally home from hospice, Tuesday, September 16, 2025. Dallin and Sarah was pleased to dog sit for their neighbor. This is them loving on Max (a nice distraction the day after Jeremy passed).
Spent a good day at the Chatelain home in Colorado Springs helping Connie with bills, organizing, and cleaning.
Melanie's unbelievable project from our garden while Alex was gone! She made tomato soup, salsa, and spaghetti sauce. Best tomatoes ever from our garden!
One of Alex's online seminary teachers, Teresa Kolsen, bringing a little condolences gift
Wednesday, September 17th, 2025, at the Chatelain home in Colorado Springs. This red hat was Grandpa Crocheron's that Jeremy claimed and wore for a long time (many years ago).
Alex and Dallin's tradition - going for ice cream each time Alex visits.
It was nice to decompress a little together after a few days of hard after Jeremy passed. Went bowling on Wednesday night. Fun, beneficial time together!
Thursday, September 18th, 2025 - Last day all together. We felt good about all we were able to do to help Connie and the family for the 3 days after Jeremy passed. This was our last night together. We all left for home the next morning. So very grateful for this special time together.
Melanie on a walk on Friday the 19th. Excited for Alex to come home that day.
Jeremy and Mom driving Alex from Colorado Springs to the Denver airport. Then, they drove all the way back to Utah together.
Pretty fun that Alex met up with Sister Josie Aikely at the airport on her way home from her mission to New York City. They had a great visit about her mission experiences for about an hour waiting for their plane home.
Melanie visiting the temple before picking up Alex from the airport. Alex was so sick when he got home, so she brought him home and he crashed.
Verity and mom making some amazing spaghetti sauce from our garden tomatoes
The family (minus sick Alex who stayed at home) went up to Rexburg for the Monday night FHE activity.
Given and Grace come over for a little visit.
Amazing breakfast! Mashed potatoes with homemade bread!
Poor Hayden buckled his ankle coming down the steps in Teena Loveland's dark garage as he was pulling her garbage can back in for her. He sprained it pretty good and was out of commission pretty good for a week or so.
Another temple trip (Kaleb asked for pictures every time we go)
Andy Grammar concert at BYUI. Alex couldn't go because of bishopric meetings, so Verity invited Brynn Hedin. Everyone had a blast - incredible concert and experience!
Quick after-school baptisms trip on Friday.
Verity playing tennis at Hillcrest. She won her match 6-0. Serving great and returning serves great!
After Rexburg Church on Sunday - quick little visit to Gwyn Whitney (she lives close to our BYUI Church building)
Great day for a rainbow!
Tried going to temple on Tuesday after school, but it was closed. Oops. Good pictures though!
Plus we went and made silly pictures at the visitor's center, then enjoyed dinner at Super Chix after!
